Indeed, we have the All-Star game to display the best gameplay that the WDL can offer, but there's not much of a team/crew loyalty sense in it now, does it? After all, they are teams created mere days before the match and disbanded afterwards, consisted of a variety of players from different (and sometimes, even rival) WDL teams, clans and regions, and the all-star teams become less united as a result. Of course, I don't mean to insult the event, because it's always exciting to see the overall best and most popular WDL players duke it out for fun, but I think there's another thing we could organise that would deliver just as much, if not more hype.
As the title says, it would be an All-Star styled game, with 5 or 6 of the USA's best players representing their country on one side, and the same amount of players from the rest of the world (Canada, Mexico, Europe, South America) representing the opposition. With regional patriotism in play, both teams will be more determined to prove their turf's superiority, becoming more united as a result (at least, ideally). Captains are chosen by community vote, and draft whoever they please from their respective region (although their choices may or may not be restricted to those who participated in the season). The game would be played in a best-of-5 fashion (more rounds are played if a tiebreaker is necessary) and the maplist is provided before the game. It would take place after the Championship Classic as well, but it can happen either before or after the All-Star game, it doesn't really matter.
Discuss.
