SXP vs TDT

Hard to see TDT lose this match-up.  TDT 2-0

TKV vs GPS

As much as I would like GPS to lose in 2 to help my team's standings I think TKV gets blown out on this map.  I'm still not convinced AVC can hang with the best yet across all different styles of maps.  This team has no communication and map09 is one that leads to a defender getting beat in quite a few different ways.  Will the mid be in the right place at the right time?  I believe if Xen plays this week over KS than TKV will be in better shape and may pull a draw.  If not than I think GPS takes it in 3.  GPS 2-1

SUC vs HFM

I have practiced with and against SUC and I can see that they are ready for this map.  SUC 2-0.

SUC vs SXP 2-1

After watching SXP practice I can tell I already underestimated them.  However I think this SXP like previous teams HB has fielded might take a game or two to really get clicking.  I know Dastan is fighting for a starting spot but I have to say the Evo actually impressed me with his game sense while I watched him. Knowing when to fight and when to pressure is a true difference maker on a map that can allow an entire team to be pushed into their base.  With that being said, I remember when SUC took down the #1 team WUMBO in season 2.  While SUC had HB on that team the strategy is what mattered and lets face it map20 is a difficult map to sustain defense on if you are constantly being attacked.  If SXP can counter and eliminate the rush strategy of SUC then this game goes easily to SXP in 2 rounds.  I just don't think SXP can do that at this early stage in the season.  Super Chargers pull the victory in a 3 round classic.

Team Dev vs TKV 1-2

I feel like Jake's team is going to set the touch record for this week.  Caution and AVC on map20 is a defense mismatch and even with all the frag power on Team Dev the sneakiness of Caution and AVC is going to pure brilliance. I think Dev's team can go far this season but like SXP it might take them some time to put together the pieces.  TKV in 3 rounds.

HFM vs GPS 2-0

I have played against Stab and Dragon on map20.  I watched them practice and I saw a team that had some missteps and miscommunication.  What I did not see was weakness.  I know this team will be ironed out and ready to roll for Week 1 game time.  Kblair will get a rude week 1 opening to his first WDL captain season.  GPS in 2.

PS I hate the left right format in this thread.

They needed to go due to absolute boredom, hopefully map01 will follow suit.

Here is my suggestion/ideas;

I actually like the layout and the weapon placement however I haven't played a duel in it yet to see it in action.  From a quick walk through I feel your top area is just too high, the lifts while like the King BFG lift raise quick but it just feels like you could half the height and still achieve everything you are going for.  Also the BFG instant death trap takes away from the central fight area.  Instead of having an open area it is all blocked off by the raised wall which leads to a hallway in the open.  I think just the two ways to deny the BFG grab are enough, you could get rid of the pit entirely and allow action to flow through it.  I also wonder if you could just place the RL where the plasma is as it seems to be a very good weapon for the map while the plasma is relatively weak.

I would also suggest adding some ammo and maybe a few stims in different areas.

#3 Super Chargers [SUC] (MAP06) vs #2 The Dream Team [TDT] (MAP21)
DS vs Ralphis, Dev vs Blair, Hex vs Tony in a match-up of the century.  Two unbelievably offensive maps that are going to lead to some ridiculous captures and "DID YOU SEE THAT?" moments.  For Map21 we have all seen how DS likes to play.  Meanwhile on Map06 I have first hand experience in the relentless fluidity of SUC.  But who wins? I know I want TDT to win and if GPS doesn't win the championship it would nice to see DS and Dev take the championship together.   If I had to be honest with myself I want TDT to win not for that reason but because SUC is just scary this season.  I'm used to SUC's shove it down your throat attitude but this season nobody on SUC has any doubts or worries.  They feel the championship is already theirs.  I think SUC loses R1 on Map21 5-1 but doesn't lose again and takes the battle in 4 rounds with 3 straight blow out victories over the recently humbled monster TDT.  I will see you in the finals Ralph.

WDL Fall 2016 / Playoff Scenarios
« on: October 14, 2016, 01:55:31 PM »
We are only two days away from knowing who makes the playoffs and who doesn't in our closest ever finish to a WDL season yet.  Only 3 measly points separate 1st place from 5th place with only one team guaranteed (TDT) and one team out (CDC).  At this point the most important game to the standings is TDT vs GPS as it has the biggest impact to which 4 teams are in and what other team joins CDC on the "better luck next season"  bench.

TDT  - CLINCHED
  • Guaranteed playoff spot.
  • Win in 2 or 3 rounds guarantees a 1st place finish.
  • Worst finish for TDT is 3rd place.

SXP
  • A win guarantees a playoff position.
  • Can finish 1st with a TDT loss or draw AND SXP wins.
  • Can be eliminated if SXP loses in 2 AND SUC/SDM draw and GPS wins, draws, or loses in 3.

SUC
  • A win guarantees a playoff position.
  • Can finish 1st with a 2 round win AND a TDT loss in 2 AND a SXP loss, draw, or win in 3.
  • Can be eliminated if a loss in 2 rounds AND GPS wins, draws, or losses in 3.
  • Can be eliminated if a loss in 3 rounds AND GPS wins or draws.

SDM
  • A win guarantees a playoff position.
  • Can finish 1st with a 2 round win and a TDT loss in 2 AND a SXP loss or draw.
  • Can be eliminated if they draw if SXP loses in 3, draws, or wins AND GPS wins.
  • Can be eliminated if they lose in 3 if GPS loses in 3*, draws or wins AND SXP wins, draws, or loses in 3.
  • Can be eliminated if they lose in 2 if GPS loses in 3, draws or wins.

GPS
  • A win guarantees a playoff position.
  • Can finish 1st with a 2 round win AND a SXP win in 3, draw, or loss AND a SUC/SDM win in 3 or draw.
  • Can be eliminated if they draw if SXP draws or wins AND SUC/SDM draw.
  • Will be eliminated if they lose UNLESS they lose in 3 AND SUC/SDM game finishes in 2 rounds

CDC
  • Is eliminated from playoffs.

Giant Pea Shooters 7pts vs 5pts Super Chargers:
I think winner here makes the playoffs and loser doesn't.

Chocolate Doom Cadavers 4pts vs 4pts Super Dank Memes:

This seems like a CDC map as much as it is a SXP map.  I feel SDM will struggle containing defense on this defensive nightmare of a map and CDC is more likely to capitalize.  CDC 3-1.

The Dream Team 10ptsvs 6pts Sexual Panthers:

TDT is undefeated and looking great on top the standings with a 3 point lead over 2nd place GPS.  After this week TDT no longer will be #1 as I am predicting a 2 round total destruction of TDT.  SXP 2-0.
