While the WDL season has come to an end with TKV taking the Demonsphere Championship Classic in a 5 round victory over BST the need for some competitive doom is still here. Recently we have been playing quite a bit of manual return CTF and it has led to some really exciting matches. Alt+Stab and myself have decided to move forward with a one day tournament dedicated to this interesting game mode.

Rules:
Team size: 3
Draft format: Auction snake draft ($30), randomized order
Format: Double Elimination, best of 3 matches
Timelimit: 7 minutes
Scorelimit: 3 captures
Flag auto return time: 60 seconds
Date/Time:
Saturday, December 30th.
Auction draft: 4:30pm ET
Tournament start: 5:00pm ET
Time frame: ~3 hours start to finish
Details:
The tournament will begin with an auction draft where the teams will be built and names will be decided. Number of teams will be decided based on the available players and number of captains. The auction draft will be snake format in randomized order. The captains will have 30 auction dollars to spend with the maximum a player can be drafted for at $28 and minimum is $1. Any remaining players will be available for teams to use as stand ins as needed.
After the draft the teams will select their names and pick two different approved maps as their home-fields. Teams are allowed to have the same home-field selections. At this point a tournament bracket will be made and match-ups determined. At the start of each match the teams will eliminate one of their opponents home-field selections. Blue team will have first elimination and red team will play their home-field first.
The matches will be played in best of 3 format with a special tiebreaker rule in affect. The first round will be played in the non-eliminated home-field of red team, the second round will be played in the non-eliminated home-field of blue team, and the third will be played in the neutral map (map10). If the teams are still tied at end of round 3 additional rounds will be played in the neutral map until a true winner is decided.
The tournament format is double elimination. This means if a team losses two games they are out of the tournament. This tournament will run only a few hours from start to finish and is scheduled to begin on Saturday, December 30th at 4:30pm ET.
*Please note that the banned maps list has been updated to include maps 02 and 21. This has led the neutral map to be updated to map10.

We have decided to remove maps that allow for flags to be intentionally or unintentionally dropped in a spot that cannot be reached by another player. Since the flag return timer is set to 60 seconds and matches are only 7 minutes this could lead to very boring and drawn out game play. We understand some may not like the maps that are removed from this competition however we feel it was the best choice to make this tournament as fun as possible.
