HELLOOOO WDL

I have been working on a little Discord bot over in the WDL Discord channel for some time now. It has finally gotten to a point I think worthy of a post  :psycash :psycash.  Below are a few pictures demonstrating some bot functions:

WDL Discussion / On getting more Maps and Community Involvement in the WDL

I have a few propositions (small !) that I think would do a number of positive things for the WDL and Doom community at large

Basically, we are not realizing our potential by using only 1 wad and 32 maps. -- Doom CTF maps have been around for 15+? years now, there are hundreds, and we are limiting ourselves to 32. The 32 that are in have been deemed the "best" , "most popular".  And dont get me wrong, they are there for a reason and are all top quality maps. But we know there are COUNTLESS other great maps that should see competitive play. 

Im proposing that every season, 1 week should be played on a map OUTSIDE of wdl2016.wad .   This could be from any ctf wad--- OR EVEN BETTER, any map that is proposed to the WDL. 

The idea is to entice the mapping community into making maps for WDL.  So we will

  • keep our 32 map wad, and continue to make changes as fits
  • every season an auxilliary map pool is made, call it "season 6 auxiliary map pool" for example. It would be a pool of maps submitted by mappers, or maps with popular support
  • 1 submitted map from the auxiliary pool is chosen to be in the regular season
  • maps that do not make it in the regular season are still available as homefield picks

and on a smaller note

  • proposing the ability to CHANGE your homefield pick if you reach the Championship.  So you made the playoffs eh ?  Great job, pick any map you please.. Wait whats this? You made the final ??? Feel free to pick again if you so please you fucking sexy beast

Ideally you would have a never-before-seen, quality map(s) being showcased at the WDL every season.  WDL WOULD BE EXTRA SPICY  :psycash :psycash :psycash

Oh and you wouldn't even have to change server :)    Odamex rules!

Wads & Mods / q3ctf.wad - Quake III CTF

Greetings friend :) 

I have been working on this wad for some time now, and it is finally complete (not really at all), so Im using my day off to post about it  :psyboom

Inside you will find 6 of the most famous Quake3/Qlive CTF maps transcribed to DOOM 2 :)

This work was accomplished using gtkRadiant alongside doombuilder 2.
Map dimensions are IDENTICAL- barring some minor modding and changing of heights to fit the doom experience.

Textures used from wdl2016.wad and Chaos Core CTF, thanks !

Ight this subject can't go without a topic. If you watched the draft you know it was eventful and full of WTF!?! moments.  The auction draft is just nice like that.  I don't think anyone expected the teams to turn out the way they did..

The Dream Team - DemonSphere, turSKA, Alpha, dingdang
I think if turSKA were to compliment any captain it would be DS. With DS' aim capability and turSKA's finesse , it's a fire combo.  DS also showing us his entrepreneurial side with only 17$ spent.  Definitely a bargain team  :psycash  I expect this team can go all the way with ding and Alpha in mid

Giant Pea Shooters - Alt_Stab, Torvald, Dranzer, avc
Stab has 2 reigning champs on his team- this will be the team to watch this season.  I can see Dranzer defending and Stab/ Tor bringing home the bacon.  Tor and Stab can get it in with these flags and get it goin on

Team Water, Kblair, Jwarrier, Vondoom_mcdoom
Just wow. Once again Water outplays everyone in the draft: or more precisely- your all dumb af.  This is probably the most stacked team in wdl history with 3 previous captains as starters.  Blair and Jwar both 11....  :psyboom id like to see some mcdoom action as well.  They will be the favorite in every match imo. Unbeatable? Ofc not. Great expectations can lead to great blunders :)

Team Rosking, Fsn76, Starrk, Hopes
This is a solid team- Fsn can hold it the fuck down all the way from France.  Starrk coming in at nyc like oh shittt and ros just drunk af comin for you. Def contender team

Super Chargers - Ralphis, Caution, Tony, bwidger
Definitely a contender.  Definitely some huge offensive pressure here..  If they all o they could probably win the whole thing .. Really though SUC looking good this year looking forward to great things from SUC this year theyve got the rookie bwidge from zd lookin to get some good shit SUC !

Sexual Panthers - HumanBones, Rude, Xenaero, Stipsi
I am hyped to be on SXP again- expecting to go 5-0 and get it in with Bones, Xen, and Stipsi :)

Discord is a chat/voice client with a lot of other cool features.  You can join from a browser but I would recommend getting the desktop app since its pretty ballin.

Edit: there's also a smartphone app so you can keep up with internet ppl when your on the go
