O Captain! My Captain!
BY WALT WHITMAN

O Captain! my Captain! our fearful trip is done,
The ship has weatherd every rack, the prize we sought is won,
The port is near, the bells I hear, the people all exulting,
While follow eyes the steady keel, the vessel grim and daring;
                         But O heart! heart! heart!
                            O the bleeding drops of red,
                               Where on the deck my Captain lies,
                                  Fallen cold and dead.

O Captain! my Captain! rise up and hear the bells;
Rise upfor you the flag is flungfor you the bugle trills,
For you bouquets and ribbond wreathsfor you the shores a-crowding,
For you they call, the swaying mass, their eager faces turning;
                         Here Captain! dear father!
                            This arm beneath your head!
                               It is some dream that on the deck,
                                 Youve fallen cold and dead.

My Captain does not answer, his lips are pale and still,
My father does not feel my arm, he has no pulse nor will,
The ship is anchord safe and sound, its voyage closed and done,
From fearful trip the victor ship comes in with object won;
                         Exult O shores, and ring O bells!
                            But I with mournful tread,
                               Walk the deck my Captain lies,
                                  Fallen cold and dead.

I'd like to see GPS win this, and looking at the stats, they might have a shot.

Regular Season Metrics

If you exclude REG's game against SDC (since GPS didn't play them due to a forfeit), their regular season round stats against common opponents are as follows:

REG Points per round: 3.22
GPS Points per round: 2.22
REG Points against per round: 1.89
GPS Points against per round: 2.44

REG is up a whole flag per round on GPS, and nearly half a flag better than GPS on defense. GPS defeated REG in week 1, but it was before REG grabbed Torvald and significantly improved. Thanks Zakken, you piece of trash.

Giant Pea Shooters

Looking at last week's playoff game, GPS put on a clinic. Here are their per stats against SUC in their 6 round game:
GPS For: 2.83 (+0.61 flags scored per round against regular season average)
GPS Against: 1.83 (-0.61 flags scored against per round against regular season average)

They improved in both areas and it is something that they will have to most certainly do again this coming week. The good news for the Giant Pea Shooters is that the Super Chargers were the greatest regular season offense in the history of the league (4.22 flags scored per round even if you don't include SUC/SDC game, even though the team was still intact at that point). The bad news is that the Regulators are still in the upper percentile of WDL offenses historically. They will need to continue to up their game over their regular season numbers to have a shot here.

Regulators

Meanwhile, the Regulators provided an interesting story of their own. Here are their per stats against TDT in their 6 round game:
REG For: 2.20 (-1.02 flags scored per round against regular season average)
REG Against: 1.80 (-.09 flags scored against per round against regular season average)

Offensively, REG drastically under-performed compared to their regular season averages. They scored roughly one less flag per round on average - on maps that are historically offensive. Their defense still stonewalled TDT big time, keeping near their 1.89 average flags against on the season. TDT's offense was incredibly potent this season, scoring 3.16 flags per round if you remove their SDC bout.

It will really come down to REG's setup in my opinion. If they bolster a defense for the CCIII like they did last week, they will likely cause serious pain on GPS. If they play more like their regular season form, then GPS will have a strong shot at causing a huge upset here. Since REG is the #1 seed, I'm going to give them the 3-2-0 advantage:

GPS over REG (MAP20)
REG over GPS (MAP20)
REG over GPS (MAP25)
GPS over REG (MAP25)
REG over GPS (MAP20)

Go GPS!

The championship title match, the event everyone has been clearing their calendars for. I simply cannot begin to elaborate how excited I am for this final match, and to follow suit with my previous prediction of games I will leave off with this video - which I feel - will accurately predict the bloodshed that will arise during this final scrim:

But who is representing who here? GPS vs REG, Germany vs Russia, or is it the other way around? You be the judge.
