Winter 2017 Exit Interviews
« on: March 12, 2017, 10:37:24 AM »
With the regular season wrapping up today, there's a 90.9% chance that you won't win the championship, but that's ok - there's always next season! Please give your candid thoughts, criticisms, praise, etc on the season, including what you think can be done better in the future. Thanks for participating and we hope to see you next season!

+Didn't completely fraud up this season despite being absent for 3.5 seasons
+Transition to 8 teams was a great success
+Good team parity, amount of practise ended up being usually the main factor separating the winning teams from the losing ones
+Stab can stack bottles on top of each other. Never seen a captain with such skill
+Rude is a crude dude who completed our team very well
+Widower was the unsung hero of this season, constantly providing info at #wdl
+Community overall was pretty friendly to me despite past shortcomings. It's not perfect but I couldn't ask for any better than this, so thank you

-GhostKiller won 3 games and thinks he's a god at Doom or something
-Avc was responsible for most of the meme content and almost all of it was bad (he still got potential though)
-Still uninvited for the WDL Radio

All in all, it was a really fun season. One thing I had in mind is that, if we further increase the amount of teams, unless you want to increase the length of the regular season, there should be a revision of the current point system, so that teams tying against one another in the standings stays fairly unlikely as a result. Here's a mock-up of what I had in mind:
Code: [Select]
2-round win: 6 points
3-round win, enemy ties one of the rounds: 5 points
3-round win, enemy ties two of the rounds or wins one: 4 points
Tie: 3 points
3-round loss, enemy ties two of the rounds or loses one: 2 points
3-round loss, enemy ties one of the rounds: 1 point
2-round loss: 0 points

As far as other suggestions for the future go, I'll do a quick call back to a couple of other threads I posted in:
- Weekly Free Agency match during the regular season (I'd volunteer to run this together with one other person)
- Community-selected regular season map in a given week
- Not very related to the league proceedings, but more focus on the WDL YouTube channel is called for
- Also not quite related, but player interviews, informative map overviews and match analysis need to be tried (I could work on one of these)

Thanks for a great season, and I hope to be around again this summer.

I agree with a 6-point system or something similar. I always thought it was unfair that a team who wins 2-1-0 earns the same amount of points/standing as a team who wins 2-0-1, or a team who loses 0-2-1 earning the same standings as a team who loses 1-2-0. Definitely something that should be looked into for the summer season.

Dang, is caution the first cap to win 2-0 every week in the season overall?

free agency matches, i like that idea (speaking as one of representatives of the FA community) i would help run it, but not a weekly thing, but maybe during the trading time period, captains can 'scout' a possible candidate to replace on their team if any FA player sparks an interest.

wdl youtube channel - yes, needs more content, some povs like i've seen for the idl

i would like to see some player interviews, like maybe a before and after perspective of the player.
